Elizabeth Beisel, now 24 years old, has been a mainstay on USA Swimming's National Team since she was 13. After her third consecutive Olympic Games in Rio this past summer, Beisel decided to step away from the sport for a little bit to travel the world and see what it is like to live like a "normie" as she calls it.
Beisel made her return to competition at the 2017 arena Pro Swim Series this weekend in Santa Clara -- time trialing the 200m backstroke and finishing second to Madisyn Cox in the 400m IM with a very strong 4:40.00, all things considered.
We chatted with Beisel after her 400m IM and caught up on her travels, status with the sport, and aspirations after swimming. Take a listen.
