12 year-old Josh Zuchowski of Flood Aquatics took the 2017 ISCA Elite Showcase Classic by storm Wednesday night, breaking the boys 11-12 200 backstroke National Age Group Record with a swift 1:52.47. His time lowers the previous record of 1:52.90 set by Ronald Dalmacio of Rose Bowl Aquatics in 2016.

Zuchowski's splits:
26.59
29.08 (55.67)
29.53
27.27 (56.80)
1:52.47

If you notice, Zuchowski's last 50 -- 27.27 -- was considerably faster than his middle two 50's. In an interview with FloSwimming after the race (which you can see in its entirety below), he noted that he looked up at the scoreboard after he flipped at the 150 and knew he had to turn it on if he was going to catch that NAG Record. Turns out he has some pretty serious closing speed. Either that, or he is 12 years old and doesn't get tired. Regardless, 1:52.47 in a 200 backstroke is no joke and we look forward to seeing what Josh has in store for the rest of the weekend in Clearwater, FL and beyond in his career.
