FloSports Rebrands, Launches Android App

You may have noticed something different about FloSwimming this week…

We’re proud to officially introduce the FloSports rebrand, which we’ve rolled out not only here on FloSwimming, but across all 20+ sports verticals to unify our identity and bring to life the competitive spirit at the core of our company. In addition to the rebrand, we’re excited to announce we’ve launched a FloSports Android app, which you can download from the Google Play store right now!

The FloSports rebrand, which includes a new logo, visual identity, tagline and more, results from our collaboration with Troika Media Group, a Los Angeles-based agency that specializes in brand consultancy and creative execution. Our new logo, which we call “the hawk,” is based on simple geometric shapes depicting the forward-leaning stance of an athlete in motion.

“Since our first live stream in 2006, we have been obsessed with giving underserved sports the love they deserve,'' said Mark Floreani, CEO and Co-Founder of FloSports. “We live and breathe the sports we cover. It is time for our brand identity to fully represent the competitive spirit that is core to our DNA.”

The timing of the rebrand is deliberate, as FloSports is rapidly growing its subscriber base and expanding live event coverage to more sports, conferences and governing bodies.

“It was important that we galvanize our communities and build brand equity for our events and partners by creating a recognizable and powerful identity that represents the lifestyle brand FloSports has become,” Floreani said.

Over the past year, FloSports has been on a fast growth trajectory, achieving more than a 125% year over year increase in net subscriber additions year to date. In May, the company announced a Series C funding round of $47M to continue investment in rights to grow coverage of underserved sports. June welcomed the launch of new Apple TV, Roku and Fire TV FloSports apps, significantly enhancing the viewing experience for consumers on the big screen. In September, FloSports acquired DirtonDirt, the home for Dirt Late Model racing, making FloSports the leader in one of the biggest segments of grassroots motorsports in the country.

In conjunction with the rebrand, FloSports launched an Android app, expanding distribution to seven platforms.

“We are continuing to see a shift in viewership from desktop and mobile browsers to mobile and TV apps,” Floreani said. “Through our apps, we give consumers a superior viewing experience and easy access to all of the live events we cover. And we’re not done yet. In the next few months, we will be releasing casting support, which allows consumers to cast live events from their mobile devices to LG, Samsung and Vizio TVs, Roku and Fire TV.”

FloSports streams more than 10,000 live competitions per year and offers a growing library of more than 2,000 hours of exclusive content. To access live and on-demand coverage of events across 20+ sports, visit FloSports.tv/apps and become a monthly or annual PRO subscriber. Either subscription unlocks access to premium content across the entire FloSports network.

Swimming With A New Tattoo

Here’s our takeaway on how to manage the growing trend of getting inked and your passion for swimming on a regular basis...

How Mental Is Swimming? Featuring Eddie Hall & Brian Shaw

Plenty of sports have crossover when it comes to training techniques, theories, and more, but can a powerlifter’s mindset prior to lifting 500kg off of the ground apply to swimming? I think so, and I’ll explain to you why.

POLL: Would Dressel's Potential 7 Golds More Impressive Than Phelps' 8?

Michael Phelps’ eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 is the most iconic performance in Olympic history, arguably one that put the sport of swimming on the map for millions of people across the globe and took the sport to a completely different level.

How To Avoid The Post-Swimming Plump

Four hours of cardio per day, intense drylands sessions, all with trainers and coaches watching over you making sure you’re in the best shape of your life for years and then—poof!—you’re on your own. It’s easy to let yourself slip into the post-swimming plump phase, but for those of you who want to stay in solid shape, we’ve got a few tips for you.

Should Swimmers Be Subject To Underwater Officiating?

Officiating has been a growing topic in the sport over the past 10 years as rule changes and advancements in underwater video capabilities have continued. Being disqualified as a kid in a summer league meet is one of the most soul-crushing things a young swimmer can face, but we’re not here to talk about the summer league days… We’re here to talk about the fastest one percent of the sport.

The 200 Freestyle Relay Should Be In The Olympics

For a long time I’ve wondered why one specific event is not contested at the Olympic Games, or at the international level in general. I’m not a huge fan of comparing swimming events to track events, because I don’t believe they perfectly overlap, but in this case I just cant ignore it.

Swimmers Are Nerds

If you haven’t realized it by now, swimmers are some of the nerdiest athletes in the world of sports. From the sets we do, the counting, the times we go, etc., etc., there’s a lot that goes into becoming a high-level swimmer, and a good portion of it comes down to being just plain nerdy. We’re going to break down the nerdiness of our sport into three categories, counting, data and more data.
