Texas Men & Women Sweep Day 2 At Big 12 Championships

Texas men's and women's teams swept day two of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, on Thursday.

Texas Men & Women Sweep Day 2 At Big 12 Championships

The fourth-ranked Texas women's swimming and diving team stretched its lead on the second day of the Big 12 Championships by sweeping all five events on Thursday evening in Austin, Texas.

Freshman Evie Pfeifer won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:37.81. Junior Nora McCullagh won her first Big 12 individual title in the 200IM with a time of 1:56.96. California native Rebecca Millard won her third straight Big 12 title in the 50 freestyle, clocking in at 21.91.

On the men's side, the No. 6 Longhorns also swept the second day.

Freshman Parker Neri won the 500 freestyle at 4:15.40. All-America senior Jonathon Roberts took the 200 IM crown — his first — at 1:43.54. Junior Tate Jackson earned the victory in the 50 freestyle at 18.95 seconds, obtaining an NCAA bid in the process.

Finally, the 400 medley relay team of Austin Katz, Austin Temple, Joseph Schooling, and Brett Ringgold earned the win and an NCAA automatic qualifying cut in 3:05.71.

Texas leads the meet through the second of four days with 380 points. West Virginia sits in second with 290 points, and TCU holds third place with 215 points.
