Schooling Doubles Up 47/1:44 Fly Victories As Texas Sweeps Auburn

In a very rare Monday afternoon dual meet, the Texas Longhorns No. 2-ranked men's and No. 5 women's teams swept the No. 13/12 Auburn Tigers at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

On the women's side, it was a pretty lopsided affair as Texas won 10 out of 14 swimming events.* The star of the show for the Longhorns was Claire Adams, who picked up individual wins in the 100 back (52.56) and 100 free (49.29). Adams has been automatic this season in the 100 back — never going slower than 53.57 and posting a pair of 51.4s at Texas Invite. The lone wins on the Auburn side came from Aly Tetzloff in the 100 fly (53.22) and Bailey Nero in the 200 fly (1:58.55).

On the men's side, it was a closer meet. Out of 14 swimming events, Auburn actually picked up more than Texas with seven to six, respectively. Hugo Gonzalez and Ryan Harty tied in the 100 back with matching 47.85s. Speaking of Gonzalez, the Spanish freshman for Auburn has been a star this season. He won all of his events Monday afternoon — 100 back (47.85), 200 back (1:42.98), and 400 IM (3:48.02). Joseph Schooling had a solid afternoon as well, picking up wins in the 100 fly (47.43) and 200 fly (1:44.95). He also split 20.59 on Texas' winning 200 medley relay to open the meet.

*Although Texas had winning times in the final two events — 400 IM and 200 freestyle relay — they were scored as exhibition swims so Auburn technically picked up winning points for each.
