Jr. Nats East | Alex Walsh Blasts 58.19 100 Breast, Smashes 15-16 NAG
Results & highlights from day three finals of the 2017 Junior National East Swimming Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Thursday night saw a pair of meet records go down by the hands of Drew Kibler in the men's 500 free and Alex Walsh in the women's 200 IM. Friday night was no different.
...Especially for Walsh. Coming into the meet, the 16 year-old held the championship meet record and 15-16 NAG record with a 58.80. Friday night she absolutely demolished that with a 58.19. We're not sure what the Walsh family is feeding their children, but we want in on it.
On the men's side, Florida commit and Baylor swimmer Trey Freeman threw down a monster 1:33.98 in the 200 free to take the win, just a half second shy of Drew Kibler's 1:33.40 meet record from 2016. Kibler opted out of this race to focus on the 100 backstroke where he finished second in 47.06 behind Destin Lasco.
Events on the docket included the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 200 freestyle relay.
