The 2017 Miami Invitational kicked off Thursday at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on the Miami (Ohio) campus in Oxford, Ohio.

Events contested on day one were the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, and 400 medley relay.

Standouts from day one finals included Oliver Smith (Emory) dropping a 19.71 in the 50 free, Kt Kustritz' (Denison) going 2:01.66 in the 200 IM, and tight battles in the men's 500 between Tom Gordon (Emory) and Stuart Hohm (Denison) and in the men's 200 IM between Kevin Van Cleave (Washington U.) and Bebe Wang (Denison).
