Sun Yang Drops 7:48 800m Freestyle, World No. 3

Sun Yang notched another impressive victory Thursday at the 2017 Chinese National Swimming Championships in Qingdao, China. After posting a 1:44.91 in the 200m freestyle and 3:42.16 in the 400m freestyle -- both World No.1 performances in 2017 -- Sun dropped a solid 7:48.33 in the 800m freestyle. His 800 time is the third-fastest in the world this year behind the Italian duo of Gregorio Paltrinieri and Gabriele Detti.

It is evident that Sun Yang is favoring the mid-distance events as his 200 and 400 were certainly stronger than his 800. Sun completely missed the final of the 1500m freestyle in Rio, an event he is the world record holder in with a 14:31.02 from the 2012 London Olympic Games, so it will be interesting to see what kind of performance he can put up later this week in that race.

Sun also posted a strong 49.13 to lead the semifinals of the 100m freestyle Thursday.

Watch all of his races below:

200m Freestyle Final: 1:44.91

400m Freestyle Final: 3:42.16

We've all been there. You click on a very clickable YouTube video -- probably something like "Top 10 Jim vs. Dwight Office Pranks" -- when all of a sudden an unassuming video on the "Up Next" playlist on the side catches your attention. So you watch that, too.
