SEC Finals Day 4: Connor Oslin Blasts New 100 Back SEC Record
Day four finals here at the 2017 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee are in the books. We saw a lot of close races decided in the last 25 yards and a new SEC Meet Record from Alabama's Connor Oslin in the men's 100 backstroke. On the team side of things, it is still Texas A&M for the women and Florida for the men. Don't expect that to change on the final day of competition tomorrow, but keep a close watch on the battle for third on both the men's and women's side. A lot of fast swimming so far here in Knoxville, but there is still more to come. Stay tuned.

200 BUTTERFLY

Women
SEC Meet Record: 1:52.19 (Camille Adams - Texas A&M, 2014)
NCAA 'A' Automatic: 1:54.01
NCAA 'B' Consideration: 1:59.59

Just as we thought, this race came down to the wire as Sarah Gibson of Texas A&M showcased some serious closing speed and overtook Chelsea Britt of Georgia 29.19 to 29.98 over the last 50 yards. Gibson's time of 1:52.64 is the second fastest time in the country this year and was about a half of a second off her former teammate Camille Adams' SEC meet record. Britt's time of 1:52.72 is good for the third fastest time in the country this season. Of note, this was Gibson's third SEC title of the weekend. You can guarantee this Aggie is not finished here in Knoxville, though. Look for her to make an impact on A&M's remaining relays.

In one of the most exciting races of the meet thus far, the men's 200 butterfly came down to the final 25 yards. In almost a dead heat between Chase Kalisz and Pace Clark at the 175 mark, Jan Switkowski of Florida had a MASSIVE underwater to pull even with the two Bulldogs. Switkowski split a 26.1 over the final 50 to Kalisz's 26.5 and Clark's 26.4. But at the touch it was Pace Clark taking the win with a 1:40.87. Switkowski finished second with a 1:40.94, just seven hundredths behind, and Kalisz settled for third in 1:41.03. All three posted NCAA Automatic qualifying times.

NCAA 'A' Automatic: 3:33.40

Through the first three legs this was anyone's race. Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky were all within a second of one another going into the freestyle leg, but Beryl Gastaldello of Texas A&M and Chantal Van Landeghem of Georgia separated themselves with quick 47.40 and 47.12 splits, respectively. Van Landeghem made a strong charge at the end, but ran out of room allowing The Aggies to take the SEC title with a time of 3:29.81. Georgia finished second in 3:30.11 and Tennessee took the bronze with a 3:31.99. All three times are NCAA Automatic qualifying times.

Anytime Caeleb Dressel dives into the water for the Gators, you know they have a chance. After the butterfly leg Florida sat in fifth place, but Dressel quickly changed that going 18.91 to the feet on the first 50 and 40.43 on the 100 propelling the Gators to victory. Winning that relay makes it a clean sweep thus far for the Gators, as they have won every single relay contested at these championships. Their final time of 3:04.52 was well off their SEC Meet Record from last year, where Dressel swam the breaststroke leg, but still a very impressive time nonetheless. Lost in the mix of Dressel down in lane one was Michael Chadwick and the Missouri Tigers making a serious push for the title. Chadwick split a blazing fast 41.13, but it was too little too late and the Tigers had to settle for silver in a time of 3:04.66. Look for Missouri to be the dark-horse in this race at NCAAs when they are fully shaved and tapered. Auburn finished in third with a 3:05.34 thanks to a 41.28 on the anchor from Peter Holoda.
