Dr. Kirk Grand, assistant coach for the Auburn swimming and diving team, discusses the art and science of taper.

Dr. Kirk Grand is a full-time assistant coach for the Auburn swimming and diving program. Grand was previously a volunteer assistant.
Grand, a swimmer for Miami (OH) University from 2006-08, specialized in psychophysiology while earning his PhD from Auburn. During his tenure with the Tigers, he has presented evidence-based research to the team and led mindfulness, self-talk, physiology, and performance-anxiety information sessions.
Grand recently gave a presentation, featured below, on the topic of taper. More specifically, Grand discusses physiology, individual differences, and psychology as it pertains to taper in swimming.
