Ryan Murphy lead off the race for the United States with a new world record of 51.85 in the men's 100LCM backstroke. Up next Adam Peaty of Great Britain closed the gap built by the United States with a split of 56.59 in the 100LCM breaststroke, making it the fastest in history by over a full second.
