Angelo has had a fierce season start with two back-to-back wins against Fort Hays State (28-7) and Emporia State (41-20). Their performance landed them sixth on the FloCollege DII football standings, a jump from eight in the previous week.
Eastern New Mexico is still getting their season groove. After two losses, the Greyhounds are looking for a comeback. What better time to show growth than a conference game?

ENMU Penalty Extends ASU Drive - Q3 5:32

Angelo State began its drive at the 25 but was quickly forced into a punt situation. However, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Eastern New Mexico erased the kick and awarded the Rams a first down to extend the drive.

Eastern New Mexico marched 65 yards in eight plays, highlighted by a 44-yard burst from Xavier Johnson, before Chad Ragle finished the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run. Kaden Bell’s extra point was good.

To start the second half, Angelo State kicked off to Eastern New Mexico for a touchback, giving ENMU the ball at its own 25-yard line. Angelo State then called a timeout before the first play.

Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico traded punts and short drives late in the second quarter, with Owen Seaver recording a sack to stall ENMU. The half closed with Eastern New Mexico gaining five yards on the final play as Angelo State took a 24–7 lead into halftime.

ENMU gained some early yards on a 19-yard scramble by Kaeden Smith, but a series of losses, incompletions, and a fumble stalled the drive. Cameron Dischler added a 23-yard run to get near the red zone, but penalties and incomplete passes forced a long fourth down. Rance Purser capped the drive with a successful 43-yard field goal.

ENMU Scores, Tie Game - Q2 11:00

Eastern New Mexico marched 15 yards in five plays, sparked by an 8-yard run from Lawrence Stell and a 4-yard gain from Maddox to set up 1st-and-goal. Ragle finished the drive with three direct snaps, punching it in from the 1-yard line for the touchdown. Bell added the extra point to put ENMU on the board.

To open the 2nd quarter, Eastern New Mexico reached the Angelo State 7-yard line after a 4-yard run by Chad Ragle. Xavier Johnson was then stopped for no gain, and on 3rd down Ragle was sacked by Owen Seaver, who forced a fumble. Angelo State recovered at their own 9-yard line with 13:46 left in the quarter.

Angelo State opened the game with steady gains on the ground from Chad Pharies and quarterback Kaeden Smith, quickly moving into Eastern New Mexico territory. A big 34-yard run by Smith set the Rams up at the 1-yard line, positioning them for the game’s first score.

Throw Back: Angelo State vs Eastern New Mexico Last Year
Last year, Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico opened conference play against each other, just as they are today. The Rams struck first with a rushing touchdown, but the Greyhounds responded with a field goal to end the first quarter with Angelo leading 7–3.
Both teams traded scores in the second quarter, putting up 10 points apiece, before Angelo added another nine in the third. ENMU couldn’t close the gap in the final frame, and the Rams held on for a 26–20 victory.
