NCAA D3 Football Ranking: No. 3 Johns Hopkins And Ithaca Face Off Week 1
D3 Football is back! Here's a look at how the D3 teams stack up in the preseason ranking and a glimpse at one of the most anticipated matchups in Week 1.
With the NCAA D2 kicking off football action on Aug. 28, the D3 universities prepare to take the field in Week 1 of action. Based on the rankings from D3football.com, North Central ILL. takes the top spot after a 2024 season that saw the Cardinals go 15-0.

Mount Union Football claims the No. 2 spot after a 14-1 season in 2024. Johns Hopkins and Susquehanna claim the three and fourth spots in the Top 25 after each team saw a 12-2 season in the previous year. St. John’s grabs the No. 5 spot in the preseason rankings after the Johnnies went 11-1 in the 2024 season.
One of the most anticipated matchups of the weekend is when No. 3 Johns Hopkins takes on Ithaca on Sep. 6. With kickoff slated for 1 p.m. ET, the Bluejays will head to Butterfield Stadium to take on the Bombers. The two teams faced off in the 2024 season, where the then-ranked No.8 Bluejays defeated the Bombers 27-23.
