WNBA 2024 Preview: New York Liberty And No.11 Pick Marquesha Davis
2024 WNBA regular season begins on May 14, with preseason games set to begin May 3. Here's a look at the New York Liberty and No.11 pick Marquesha Davis.
The New York Liberty finished the 2023 WNBA Season losing to the Las Vegas Aces 3-1 in the WNBA Finals. The Liberty are still poised to be a WNBA title contender after this offseason and their selections in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

WNBA Draft 2024 Recap: Caitlin Clark Goes No.1 To Indiana Fever
The Liberty selected Marquesha Davis, Esmery Martinez, Jessika Carter and Kaitlyn Davis to complete their 2024 draft class.
With WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu leading the charge, finding the right mix of role players will be key for the Liberty next season.
Here's a preview of the New York Liberty ahead of the 2024 WNBA Season.
WNBA Preview 2024: New York Liberty
The 2023 WNBA Finals loss is a tough pill to swallow for many New York Liberty fans, however the future is brighter than ever for this franchise. Breanna Stewart is still expanding her game and just finished second in scoring in the WNBA this past season. Sabrina Ionescu has established herself as one of the league's best guards in just four years, this past season she averaged 17 ppg and 5.4 assist.
The New York Liberty are in the best position in regards to roster the franchise has ever seen, that leaves great opportunity for the Liberty to finally get over WNBA hump and earn their first Championship.
Liberty Take Ole Miss Women's Basketball Star Marquesha Davis in WNBA Draft
Selecting Marquesha Davis at No. 11 overall is a solid choice to add some needed defense to this team. Davis is 6'0 guard from Ole Miss with speed an athleticism who can create off the dribble and transition. She averaged 8.7 ppg and 3.6 rebounds in her final season with Ole Miss.
Jessika Carter who was selected at No.23 overall may be the prospect with the most potential upside in this NY Liberty draft class. Carter is a 6'5 center from Mississippi State who will bring much needed rebounding and a dominant inside presence to NY. In her last collegiate season she averaged 11.6 ppg and 7.4 rebounds.
All four of the Liberty's 2024 draft selections may not make the regular season roster, however, they still have opportunity to develop and earn a spot as soon as the 2025 season.
Final rosters will be decided prior to opening day which is scheduled for May 14, the Suns first regular season game is May 14 vs. the Washington Mystics.
