FloSwimming's Clark Burckle caught up with 2016 U.S. Olympian Tom Shields Sunday evening at the 2017 Los Angeles Invitational. Shields, who barely missed the World Championship team a couple of weeks ago with a 4th place finish in his signature event -- the 100m butterfly -- at U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis swam a 52.00 in the same event on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Shields was "pretty pissed" with his performance Sunday and went on further to say he was hoping to be better than his time from Nationals. In the video interview above Shields goes into detail on some of the changes he needs to make to in order to improve and shares his thoughts on the butterfly events at the upcoming World Championships.
If you missed our first interview with Shields on Friday, you can see it HERE.
