Day two prelims from the 2017 Mare Nostrum in Monaco saw two meet records go down from Sarah Sjöström of Sweden in the 100m freestyle (53.30) and Katinka Hosszu of Hungary in the 200m IM (2:09.93) -- in her third race of the morning, nonetheless.

That is 600 euros in the bank each for Sjöström and Hosszu. Both of them are not too far off the overall Mare Nostrum tour record as well; Sjostrom only needs to drop five one-hundredths to dip below Femke Heemskerk's record of 53.25 from 2015 in Barcelona and Hosszu needs to drop exactly one second to dip below her own tour record of 2:08.93 from 2016 in Canet-en-Roussillon. If they can do this, that is an additional 750 euros in their back pocket. Not a bad day in the office at all.
