After tying Jay Litherland in the 200m IM (2:00.48) at the 2017 arena Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara the first week of June, Michael Andrew talked about his training and preparation heading into the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championship Trials -- including where he is mentally and physically.

With Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte out of the picture in Indianapolis, Andrew has circled the 200m IM as an event to focus on and where he believes his best opportunity lies to earn a spot on the World Championship team. At the 2016 Olympic Trials, Andrew finished sixth in the semifinals of this race (1:59.44), but scratched the finals. As noted in the interview, he will also be focusing on the 100m breaststroke -- an event he finished fourth in at Trials with a 59.82.

Andrew has a SC World Championship title in the 100m IM under his belt, but can the NAG Slayer step up in Indy to make his first major international team? Stay tuned.
