13 Questions You May Hear At A Swim Meet
Swim meets are full of energy, excitement, and a whole lot of chatter. Here are just a few of the many questions you may hear on the pool deck at a swim meet.

1) "What Lane Are You?"
This could be an actual question, an ice breaker, or someone that's trying to politely tell you that you are in their lane.

2) "What Do You Go In This?"
Might seem like someone who asks this question is really interested in hearing all of your times, but they really just want to figure out whether or not they're going to beat you/what to expect.

3) "Can I borrow your…?"
People forget things sometimes, we get it. Just DON'T BE THAT GUY that is always asking to borrow towels, goggles, caps, tech suits, phones, headphones, cars, houses, money, etc. Just don't be that guy. Bring your own...stuff.

4) "Are You Tapered?"
Refer to #2. I really don't need to hear about what you did at practice two weeks ago, I just want to know what to expect out of your tapered a...self in this race.

5) "Are You Shaved?"
Refer to #2 or #4. I really don't need to hear about what kind of razor you used yesterday, I just want to know what to expect out of you in this race.

6) "What heat are you in"
This one could mean a few things.
1) Teammate To Teammate: Just wondering which heat to get ready to watch
2) Swimmer To Rival: Just wondering because I hope you're in my heat, I'll crush you.
3) Swimmer To Rival: Just wondering because I hope you're not in my heat, I'll crush you.
4) Coach To Swimmer: Just wondering when I should go to hospitality.

7) "Who Is That Guy?"
Typically asked when some random fool comes in and drops a 19.6 50 freestyle.

8) "What Time Is Does The 200 Fly Start?"
No one really wants to know the answer to this question, but it is necessary to ask.

9) "Who Is On The Relay?"
You better say I'm anchoring or I'm out of here. Well...not really but I'd really like to anchor the relay.

10) "Should I Scratch?"
Look coach, I know you want me to swim the 400 IM twice in one day...but I've got the 200 fly, 1500 free, and two relays tonight as well.

11) "Did You Scratch?"
Wait you told me not to scratch didn't you? No? Oh great, hope I didn't miss the deadline.

12) "Can You Count For Me?"
If it's a 500 free the answer is likely yes. If it's the 1650 you may have to ask this question between 10-12 times.

13) "Can You Time For Me?"
This one is typically only asked by the milers when all of the volunteer timers have gone home. "MOM!!! MOM!!!! CAN YOU TIME FOR ME?!"

14) "How Did You Not Get DQed?"
You did 14 butterfly kicks on breaststroke. How did the official not see you?
