11.) Gr. Flint -- 1:49.21 (Q)
12.) Spartanburg -- 1:49.47 (Q)
13.) Bath Area -- 1:49.63 (Q)
14.) Greensboro -- 1:49.67 (Q)
15.) Upper Main Line -- 1:49.85 (Q)
16.) Ocean County -- 1:50.15 (Q)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
17.) Hickory -- 1:50.19 (Alt. 1)
*18.) Coffman -- 1:50.31 (Alt. 2) - Swim Off Required
*18.) North Shore -- 1:50.31 (Alt. 2) - Swim Off Required

Check out how tightly bunched the topthree are going into the A-Final -- just 0.07 seconds separating gold from bronze as we head into the meet's second night. In the prelims of the 200 freestyle relay, we saw a handful of ladies split in the 25-high to 26-low range This bodes well for an incredibly exciting and fast event in both the B and A finals. Although the national record may seem distant, we wouldn't be surprised if more than one team gives the 2014 team from Triangle NC a run for its money.

Men 200m Freestyle Relay

National Record: Triangle NC -- 1:33.83 -- 7/29/2014
-------------------------------------------------------------------

2.) Rapid Area -- 1:36.36 (Q)
3.) Powel Crosley -- 1:36.47 (Q)
4.) Red Bank -- 1:36.76 (Q)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
9.) Auglaize Mercer -- 1:38.18 (Q)
9.) Spartanburg -- 1:38.18 (Q)
11.) Frederick -- 1:38.62 (Q)
12.) York -- 1:38.75 (Q)
13.) Cheshire -- 1:38.79 (Q)
14.) Countryside -- 1:39.01 (Q)
15.) Somerset Valley -- 1:39.12 (Q)
16.) Coffman -- 1:39.52 (Q)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
17.) Rock Hill -- 1:39.86 (Alt. 1)
18.) Lynchburg -- 1:39.88 (Alt. 2)

Much like the women's 200 freestyle relay, the men's event has a tightly bunched top end with four teams in the 1:36 range. Twenty-three-second 50 freestyle splits seemed like second nature to a lot of these high-level athletes in the prelims, so we cannot wait to see if any of them manage to dip into the 23-low to 22-high range with the excitement of finals fueling them. The meet record of 1:33.83 by Triangle NC doesn't seem like it is in too much danger, but only time will tell if it will stand to see the 2018 Long Course YMCA Swimming National Championships.
