Leah Smith put up the time to beat in an earlier heat with a 16:01.01 and no one would end up coming all too close an the real "race" would be between Ashley Twitchell and Hannah Moore. Twitchell, who saw in a heat prior to Moore, would put up a 16:10.63 and have to watch as Hannah Moore split almost dead on with what she had prior throughout the race. Moore would end up turning it on in the last 300 to come away with the second place finish by just over two seconds and is headed to Budapest.

Two swimmers, Cox and Margalis, break the 2:10 barrier to qualify for the 200 IM and are headed to Budapest. Cox put together great breaststroke and freestyle legs to overcome a lead built by Margalis and Eastin.

The torch has officially been passed for Budapest to Kalisz and Devine for the 200 IM and they took it in style. Kalisz posted the winning time of 1:56.51 just ahead of the incredible 50 free split of Abrahm Devine to finish at 1:56.79. The pair will head to Budapest to take on a strong international showing in the event highlighted by the best of the best.

Clark Smith holds off a charging Zane Grothe to take home the gold in a time of 7:50.43. Grothe battled with True Sweester for a good portion of the race before turning on the jets down the home stretch and separating himself from him and even forcing Smith into a sprint into the wall. Grothe would end up finishing just over a half-of-a-second behind your winner Smith and they are both heading to Budapest.

Simone Manuel dominates a strong 50 freestyle field to pick up a commanding win in 24.27 over second place finisher Abby Weitzeil in 24.74. Both top two finishers will head to Budapest where Sarah Sjostrom, Kromowidjojo, and more are waiting to race in the fastest event in swimming.

From the time Dressel to the time he hit there wall there was really no doubt that he would win the race and he did so in a quick time of 21.53. Closing a bit in the last 15 meters was Nathan Adrian who picked up the second place spot in 21.87 and right behind him was Cullen Jones at 21.89. Yep, 21.89 and you don't make the world championship team in the 50 freestyle, no where else in the world.
