The events on the docket Friday night in Sheffield were the women's 200m backstroke, men's 100m butterfly, women's 100m freestyle, and men's 200m breaststroke.

In the first event of the night, Rosie Rudin used a strong back half -- especially final 50 meters -- to take the win with a 2:09.55, just off the consideration time of 2:09.47. Jessica Fullalove had the lead at the 150 (1:36.30) over Rudin (1:36.53) but could not hang on as she touched for second in 2:10.05. Charlotte Evans powered through the first 100 meters in first but also could not hold off Rudin's charge as she faded to third in 2:10.35.

We knew James Guy was a good mid-distance freestyler, but this guy has flexed some serious butterfly muscles this week in Sheffield. After taking the win in the 200 earlier in the meet with a solid 1:55, Guy uncorked a 51.52 in the 100 to take the win and post the third-fastest time in the world this year -- rattling the British record as well. Adam Barrett snagged the silver in 52.13 and sprint freestyle ace Duncan Scott rounded out the podium in third with a 52.91.

Women's 100m Freestyle
British Record: 52.87 (Francesca Halsall, 2009)

Eleanor Faulkner, the 200m freestyle champion, rounded out the podium in third with a 54.89.

It was tight three-man race between Ross Murdoch, James Wilby, and Andrew Willis at the 100m mark -- with Murdoch leading in 1:02.25 and Wilby and Willis tied in 1:02.58. But Murdoch took off on the third 50, and by the time he turned for the final 50 meters he had already built up a full second and never looked back, touching in 2:09.15 -- the eighth-fastest time in the world this year. Wilby snagged the silver in 2:10.01, and Willis, a two-time Olympic finalist in this event, touched for the bronze in 2:10.52.
