NCAA DI Men's Pre-Selection Psych Sheet Released
The NCAA has released the pre-selection psych sheet for the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on March 22-25.

While this psych sheet is not final in terms of who is officially invited to the meet, it does provide answers to some questions about swimmers who are on the fence of which events to enter.

Most notably, Texas senior Will Licon has decided to drop the 400 IM, an event he placed second in at last year's NCAA Championships with a 3:37.40, in favor of the 100 breaststroke, where he is the second seed with a 51.15. Licon posted this mark in a time trial at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships, unshaved and un-tapered, so he will certainly be a major threat to the top seed from Missouri, Fabian Schwingenschloeglwho leads with a 51.07 from November.

Also of note, and with consequence in the team race, two more heavy-hitters for Texas in Joseph Schooling and Jack Conger are entered in the 50 freestyle, where they are seeded third and 12th, respectively. This differs from the Longhorns' strategy from last season, when Schooling only swam two individual events (100 and 200 butterfly) plus all five relays and Conger only swam two individual events (100 and 200 butterfly) as well as four of the relays. Conger scratched the 100 backstroke, being that it is on the same day as the 100 butterfly, and was not on Texas' 200 medley relay.

We will offer a much more in-depth analysis once the official psych sheet is posted, likely on Wednesday. But for now, check out the pre-selection psych sheet below and keep in mind 29 to 30 men are typically invited in each individual event.
