Ipsen has been a star for the Wolfpack since his arrival on campus in 2014. Under the tutelage of N.C. State associate head coach Gary Taylor, Ipsen has flourished. He finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:14.04) and fifth in the 1650 freestyle (14:35.35) as a sophomore at last year's NCAA Championships in Atlanta. The Dane went on to finish 18th in the 1500m freestyle (15:05.91) and 20th in the 400m freestyle (3:48.31) at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and will look to improve upon these times and move up into medal contention at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest this summer.

But first, Ipsen has some business to take care of in the short course pool. Personally, he will look to continue his unbeaten streak in the 500- and 1650-yard freestyle at the ACC Championships and make upward moves in those two events at NCAAs. From a team perspective, Ipsen is a pivotal piece of a Wolfpack team looking get over the hump and solidify itself as one of the elites.
