Yulia Efimova is looking to turn a new leaf heading into the 2017 FINA World Championships this summer in Budapest — both in and out of the pool. The Russian swimmer has looked very strong and confident at the 2017 Mare Nostrum — particularly in Barcelona and Canet-en-Roussillon.

In Barcelona Tuesday night, Efimova unloaded a monster 2:19.83 in the 200m breaststroke — the fastest time in the world this year and the eighth fastest performance of all time. Her best time is a 2:19.41 from the 2013 World Championships — also in Barcelona — which ranks as the second fastest performance of all time.

Efimova did not stop there, however. Saturday night in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, she uncorked a 1:04.82 in the 100m breaststroke — a lifetime best for Efimova, the fastest time in the world this year, and the fifth fastest performance of all time.

Woah.

We caught up with Efimova after the session where she talked fast performances at the Mare Nostrum, working with a new team, and looking ahead to the World Championships.

Can she challenge Rikke Moller Pedersen's 2013 world record of 2:19.11 on Sunday night in the 200? Stay tuned.
