44 Year-Old Olympic Gold Medalist Josh Davis Pops Off 21.3 In 50 Free

Josh Davis Still Has It, Drops 21.3 50 Free

Josh Davis may be 44 years old but don't tell him that. The Olympic gold medalist from the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta recently dropped an unshaved and un-tapered 21.38 in the 50 freestyle. Davis, who owns all of the U.S. Masters national records in the freestyle events (50-500) for the 40-44 age group, shared with FloSwimming that he is training for the 45-49 age group record in the 50 freestyle, which is a 21.06 by Richard Hughey from 2010.

Davis is still very involved in the swimming community. He was named the first head coach of Oklahoma Christian University's swimming programs in June 2016. The program will start competing in the 2017-18 season. Davis also runs BREAKOUT Swim Clinics across the country with prominent U.S. Olympic swimmers in an effort to grow and teach the sport.
