Pac-12 Day Three Prelims: Cal Makes Strong Push, Looks To Shorten Gap

As we near Friday's finals session at the Pac-12 Championships, prepare yourself for a three-way slugfest between Stanford, Cal, and USC in Federal Way, Washington. Stanford amassed a nice lead on Thursday, but Cal put some great numbers up in the morning session. There are quite a few Bears swimmers who got into A-finals Friday night and will probably move up, having not showed all their cards in prelims (we're looking at you, ​Ryan Murphy).

Pac-12 Day Two Finals: Grant Shoults' 4:10 500 Free Leads Stanford Charge

Day two finals of the 2017 Men's Pac-12 Swimming Championships in Federal Way, Washington, showed us that Cal has some big guns, but it's depth that may win the conference title. Stanford took the lead on Friday night in points with 387, while USC sits in second with 305. Cal trails in third place with 292 points. Saturday's session, however, could really turn things around.

Pac-12 Night One: Cal Scares 200 Medley Relay NCAA Record

The first night of competition from the 2017 Men's Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington, is history. With only two events contested on Wednesday, the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay, this session was short but not lacking in action. Cal's 200 medley relay kicked off the meet with a bang by setting a new Pac-12 record with a smoking-fast 1:22.31, barely missing the NCAA and U.S. Open record of 1:22.27. The Bears followed suit in the 800 freestyle relay by breaking the Pac-12 meet record in 6:12.07, beating second-place Stanford by three seconds. The meet starts to get a little deeper on Thursday with the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle in the morning.
