Day three finals of the 2017 Men's Pac-12 Swimming Championships in Federal Way, Washington, may have been some of the best racing we've seen in some time. Friday night featured many close races, final-length heroics, and a whole lotta grit. Read below. Trust me.

WHAT. A. RACE.

In what many people would have assumed to be a runaway win for California was actually almost stolen away from them by... Stanford? Nope, not Stanford. USC? Guess again. The team that almost dethroned Cal hailed from Tempe, AZ -- the ASU Sun Devils. Richard Bohus produced an incredible 44.95 backstroke leadoff, a new personal-best and school record. His time had Cal and ASU neck and neck, but Cal breaststroker Connor Hoppe split a 52.0 and put the Bears almost a second ahead. Josa, the 100 fly champ, was in next for the Bears but was actually closed on by Andrew Porter, who split 44.78. Then Cameron Craig put up one of the most valiant swims of the session, almost touching out Michael Jensen (41.56) after splitting an incredible 41.14. The Cal Bears bested the Sun Devils 3:03.45 to 3:03.63.

1.) Cal: 3:03.45
2.) ASU: 3:03.63
3.) Stanford: 3:04.50
4.) USC: 3:04.51
5.) Arizona: 3:07.18
**UTAH: DISQUALIFIED**

After Friday night's relay, Stanford (588) kept its lead over Cal (523), but the Bears outscored the Cardinal by 40 points on day three. USC is not far behind either with 494 points. Arizona State is fourth overall with 373 points, ahead of fifth-place Arizona (246) and sixth-place Utah (167).
