The 2017 Texas Age Group Swimming Long Course Championships, or more commonly referred to as TAGS, kick off July 26 in Austin, Texas at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The best 14&U swimmers in Texas will look to make their mark as we search for the next generation stars in the sport of swimming. Audrey Knapper, Texas Gold Head Coach, referred to TAGS as a "very elite meet" and the summer focus meet circled on the calendar for the most prominent Texas age group swimmers.

Fun fact: this meet was meet was started by legendary coaches Richard Quick and Skip Kenney when they were with the Dad's Club in Houston, Texas.

A trip down memory lane...

The 2016 Long Course TAGS meet saw many swimmers excel and a few meet records go down -- six to be exact -- in the boys 13-14 800m freestyle relay, girls 10&U 100m freestyle, boys 10&U 400m freestyle relay, girls 11-12 200m freestyle, and girls 11-12 100m butterfly).

Typically, age group records go down fairly frequently as the rate of improvement for a 14&U swimmer is significantly greater than that of a senior level swimmer.

But TAGS isn't typical -- it is very difficult to take down a record at this meet. Check out some of the names that still hold long course TAGS records below.

Dakota Luther

A member of the 2017 World Championship team in the 200m butterfly for Team USA, Luther still holds the TAGS record in the girls 11-12 100m freestyle (59.52) from 2012.

Camille Adams

A two-time U.S. Olympian in the 200m butterfly, Adams holds the record in the girls 13-14 200m butterfly (2:16.24) 2006.

Dana Vollmer

A three-time U.S. Olympian and seven-time Olympic medalist, Vollmer still holds the record in the girls 11-12 50m butterfly (28.33) from 2000.

Some of the best swimmers in the world have made their way through TAGS. Will we see some of the best make a name for themselves at the 2017 meet?
