WATCH: Tom Shields Breaks American and US Open 100 Butterfly Records


Day Two of the 2016 AT&T Winter Nationals in Atlanta came with a surprise in the Men's 100 Butterfly. Tom Shields warmed up for a great 100 fly the day before by doing the 50 free final, butterfly and posting a quick time of 20.10.

American Record - 44.10 by Austin Stabb 
US Open Record - 44.01 by Joseph Schooling 

New Records: 

American Record - 43.84 by Tom Shields
US Open Record - 43.84 by Tom Shields

​Tom Shields dipped under the 44 second barrier breaking both previous records with a 43.84. Next up for shields is Short Course World Championships in Windsor Canada and if this is any predictor for that meet you can expect something fast.
